Viola Davis and Cicely Tyson Once Again Nominated for Primetime Emmy Awards

For the third consecutive year, Viola Davis has managed to be recognized by the Primetime Emmy Awards. She won the trophy once in 2015 for her performance as Annalise Keating on the rookie season of How to Get Away With Murder. She has again been nominated for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series.

Cicely Tyson, who plays Viola Davis's on screen mom Ophelia Harkness, has been nominated for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series. This is her second nomination after having been nominated in 2015 for her single-episode appearance at the end of the show's first season.

The ceremony takes place on September 17, 2017.

How to Get Away With Murder Returning to ABC this Fall

Some rumors were circulating which suggested that How to Get Away With Murder be held for mid-season for its fourth season run.

Today's upfront presentation of ABC dispelled these doubts: The show will return to ABC this fall in its regular time slot on Thursdays @ 10/9c, alongside the #TGIT line-up, starting with the fourteenth season of Grey's Anatomy @ 8/7c and the seventh and final season of Scandal @ 9/8c.

Nonetheless, an exact return date has yet to be announced.

How to Get Away With Murder Renewed for Season 4 by ABC

Like last year, How to Get Away With Murder has been given an early renewal by ABC, alongside Grey's Anatomy and Scandal. The show is now officially set to return for a fourth run next season!

No further information has been revealed yet, but the president of ABC has hinted that the #TGIT line-up might look differently in the fall. The episode order should encompass 15 episodes again as the three previous seasons did.

How to Get Away With Murder has once again, for the third time in a row, been nominated for a GLAAD Media Award in the category "Outstanding Drama Series." GLAAD honors authentic representation of LGTBQ people in entertainment media.

Cicely Tyson to Return in Season 3

Cicely Tyson is set to return for at least one episode in How to Get Away With Murder's third season.

She will thus reprise her role as Annalise Keating's (Viola Davis) mom Ophelia Harkness. After a one-episode appearance in the show's rookie season, which earned Tyson a nomination for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series, and a surprise return for two episodes in season 2, this marks Tysons fourth appearance overall.

The exact episode of her appearance has not been announced yet.
